Can I have pictures of multiple items?
Each item you place for sale gets its own web page. That web page will contain all your information about the item such as desciption, price and one photo.

Can you describe the jury selection process?
Once you sign up you can immediately start listing your items for sale. Once you upload images we will review them and notify if there are any issues. We have a very low number of jury rejections as most people that sign up are real merchants selling handmade items.
|
Can you simply direct visitors to my site?
We realize that you probably have a lot of the systems already set up on your site. ArtsAndCraftsFair.com was set up to be a central point to collect sales leads for merchants, so the information has be on our site to be used by the system. Unfortunately, we are not set up to be a collection of links, but you could put your web address on your web page description.
|
Could I refer customers to my site to order as it is organized to include shipping and credit card options.
Yes. You may do so in the description on your home page, or on the item page. However, if we receive an order request then we simply forward the information to you, so no matter what you will be processing the order and payment information.
|
Do I have to be a business to sell on your site?
No. We do however, ask you to list a company name so that consumers can easily reference back to you. You could even use your name as the company name, like Mary's Handmade Soaps.Of course, you will want to consult with city officials to verify if you need a business license or must claim the revenue.
|
Do I send pictures of my items to you and what is the address?
After you sign up you can start entering items for sale immediately. You'll be able to upload the digital images yourself.
|
How can I edit my page?
Login in using your email address and password. That will take you to the control panel where you can click on the link 'Update your account information'. The first screen will allow you to edit your company's information, the second screen will allow you to edit what's on your webpage and the third page will allow you to edit your contact information.
Once you confirm the changes you'll have an opportunity to see the revised page (you may need to click on the 'Refresh' button in your browser due to caching).

How do I get paid for items that someone wants to buy?
Similar to a real world arts and crafts fair, all transactions are between the consumer and merchant. As the fair host, we are not currently involved in the transaction. When an order is placed for your item, we immediately notify by email. It is then up to you to contact the interested buyer within 2 days to finalize the transaction. In the future, we may offer our services as a neutral intermediary to help facilitate more transactions.
|
How many items could I list on the page?
You can list an unlimited number of items. For each item that you list, an individual web page is created for that item, which is linked back to your storefront. We will also randomly display your items on our home page to give you maximum visibility.
|
I already have a site. Why should I set up show on this one?
The thing about our site is that it brings so many merchants together into one area that it also attracts a lot of buyer. Think about it this way...are you more likely to sell items at a large arts and crafts fair with hundreds of merchants, or at a show with only a handful of merchants?
Consumers will spend more time on a central site with lots of photos and descriptions versus going to an individual merchant's site. So even if you have your own site, ArtsAndCraftsFair.com is an excellent means to promoting your site and creating more traffic and sales for yourself.

I am not familiar with html...how can I go about displaying my photos and text on your site.
You don't need to know how to program at all (really, you don't). Here's how the process works.- Enter your company information...address, phone, your name, etc.
- You enter what you want displayed on your web page. You simply type it into a form exactly as you want to see it.
- Once your page is set up, you can start listing items for sale. You list a title for the item, a short description, the price and shipping. Then you can easily upload a digital photograph of the photo. Once you submit the form the website automatically creates a new web page for your item.
And that's it. Once you start the process you'll see that it's really easy.

I can not accurately put one ship-price in for everywhere.
There's obviously a lot of differences in shipping. We can't make it too complicated or people will just get confused. We're a sales lead generator, and you'll be in contact with the consumer to finalize each transaction. The shipping fee you list should be somewhere in the upper middle of a "reasonable" range. For instance, if a short shipping distance (say from Washington DC to Ohio) will cost $5 and a long shipping distance (say from Washington DC to Hawaii) will cost $15, a reasonable amount to list would be say $12. That will cover 90% of the orders. The remaining 10% can be adjusted when you finalize the transaction. You should also put a small shipping disclaimer in each item's description.

I noticed that the pictures I loaded on your site are now the size of thumbnails, but the original pictures were larger. What happened?
We thumbnail all new pictures every 24 hours. This makes the download time much, much quicker. If it takes too long, consumers just aren't interested enough to wait for the image to come in, so they click off and may never even see the downloaded image. Images on the home and item page are thumbnailed images, but on each item page there is a link that will show you the full sized picture in a seperate window. That way the original item page will load quickly with the thumbnail, and if they are interested in the item they can get more detail.

I'm interested in buying a few items. Who do I pay?
Similar to a real world arts and crafts fair, all transactions are between the consumer and merchant. As the fair host we are not currently involved in the transaction. When an order is placed for your item we immediately notify the merchant by email. They will contact you within two days to finalize the transaction.

Is there an FTP site that I can upload my photos to?
After you sign up, you'll be able to add items through your browser. On that screen you simply have to point to the file on your hard drive and submit the form, then our web page will upload the photo.
|
Most of my items are so complex as far as color/size choices, and my shipping charges vary too depending on some of those charges so I'm really not sure how to set up my web page
We simply take orders and then alert you as to when a consumer is interested. After that it's up to you to contact the interested buyer and settle matters such as payment and color/size, etc. So even though you may have a lot of options that go along with each particular item, it would be best to highlight the most commonly requested options, then in the item description you can list all possible options. When you contact the consumer you can gather the details. The important thing is that you're getting that order.
|
What are the fees for merchants?
There is a maintenance fee of $10.99 a month, mostly due to the cost of web server space.
|
What do I have to do to get one of my items on the Front Page of your site?
The home page is programmed so that the items rotate randomly for each category. So if there are 10 pottery items and you have 5 listed, then 50% of the views on the home page will display your items in the pottery category.
|
What image formats may I upload?
We accept images with the extension .JPG, .JPEG, .GIF or .BMP.
